FRAME 3
The first item you will learn to locate is the aerodrome
classification. Use the sample entry in the extract from VFR Supplement
(page 204). The information on aerodrome classification is in the legend
(page 205).
Aerodromes are classified into two categories: military/federal
government and civil.
To readily identify the type of aerodrome, an
abbreviation appears beneath the aerodrome name.
In the sample entry, the letter "P" appears under the aerodrome
name, followed by the letters "AF" and "NG" in parentheses. By using the
aerodrome classification legend, you can determine that the letter "P"
indicates a civil aerodrome that can be used by transient military
aircraft. If PVT were shown, it would indicate that the airport was for
private use only.
If no letter were shown, you would know that the
aerodrome was open to the general public.
If you look at the Stallion AAF entry in the sample beneath the
Elkhart Muni entry, you will find the letter "A."
What does this
aerodrome classification symbol mean? ____________________________
