surveillance approach by the controller at the flight data, arrival, and final
controller positions.

INTRODUCTION
In this lesson you will learn the information necessary to functionally control an aircraft while in the
flight data, arrival, and final controller positions when conducting a radar surveillance approach in a
ground controlled approach facility. This lesson provides radar approach information according to
prescribed or approved instrument approach procedures. A radar approach may be given to any aircraft
on request and may be offered to aircraft in distress, regardless of weather conditions, or to expedite
traffic.
