In this lesson you will learn to control leaving, in-flight, and arriving aircraft in a safe, orderly, and
expeditious manner.

ACTION:
Describe the procedures used to control leaving, inflight, and arriving aircraft in a
safe, orderly, and expeditious manner.
CONDITION:
You are performing air traffic control (ATC) duties in the local control position in
an ATC tower.
STANDARD:
You must issue all required information and apply correct separation criteria to
VFR or SVFR aircraft within assigned airspace according to Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) Handbook 7110.65 so safe and efficient traffic movement
results.

INTRODUCTION
Controlling departure, in-flight, and arrival aircraft in a safe, orderly, and expeditious manner must be
mastered and put to memory. Air traffic control is a growing need in today's Army and is everyone's
responsibility.
