b. Glide Slope Critical Area
When conditions are less than a reported ceiling of 800 feet, visibility 2 miles, or both, do NOT
authorize vehicles or aircraft to operate in the area when an arriving aircraft is between the ILS outer
marker (OM) (or the fix instead of the OM) and the airport, unless that aircraft has reported the airport in
sight and is circling or side stepping to land on other than the ILS runway (Figure 1-5).
NOTE: The glide slope critical area extends to the near edge of the runway that the ILS serves. It does
not include the runway.

c. Localizer Critical Area
(1) When conditions are less than a reported ceiling of 800 feet, visibility 2 miles, or both, do
NOT authorize vehicle or aircraft operations in or over the area when an arriving aircraft is between the
ILS OM (or the fix used instead of the OM) and the airport (Figure 1-6). Exceptions include a
preceding--
(a) Arriving aircraft on the same or another runway that passes over or through the area
while landing or exiting the runway.
