abbreviated. Each manual lists the abbreviations used near the index.
The listing of abbreviations used in the GP is in Chapter 2, "Terms,
Abbreviations and NOTAM Code." Turn to the extract of Chapter 2 on page
120 and review paragraph 2-2, "FLIP and NOTAM Abbreviations."

To convert prevailing visibility in statute miles to meters, use
the table labeled PREVAILING VISIBILITY. Reading down the STATUTE MILES
column, find the distance you wish to convert. Follow the dotted lines
to the METERS column.
a. 1/4 statute mile equals ________ meters.
b. 1 1/8 statute miles equal ________ meters.
