When requesting an ASR approach, an aviator will include the
following items in a VFR position report: aircraft identification,
position, altitude, type of flight plan, and destination, followed by any
additional remarks. He may also include his estimated time of arrival at
the destination. The aviator will normally give this position report on
initial contact with the ATC facility. An accurate position report will
help the controller identify the aircraft.
