(4) Except
life-threatening
emergencies,
night
shipboard
operation may not be conducted with Army helicopters on Navy single-
or dual-spot, air-capable ships.
b. Deck-Landing Qualification Training
(1) Before conducting deck-landing qualification
training,
pilots of self-deploying helicopters must meet the
following
prerequisites:
(a) Be a designated PC with 50 PC hours.
(b) Have 500 total helicopter hours.
(c) Have 50 night and 50 instrument hours (actual or
simulated).
Five night and five instrument hours must have been
within the last 60 days (for night deck-landing qualification only).
(2) In addition to those prerequisites listed in (1) above,
Army deck-landing qualification instructors will meet the following
prerequisites:
(a) Be qualified as an instructor pilot.
(b) Have 500 pilot hours in the type of helicopter in
which qualified.
(c) Be instrument qualified and current.
c. Initial
Qualification,
Requalification,
and
Currency
Requirements
(1) Multispot, Air-Capable Ships
Qualification requirements for operations from multispot,
air-capable ships are --
(a) For initial and requalification requirements, five day
and five night shipboard landings will be made per year.
This
training will be under the direction of a deck-landing qualification
instructor.
(b) For currency requirements, two day and three night
shipboard landings will be made per year.
One day landing will be
made within 24 hours before conducting a night landing.
(2) Single- and Dual-Spot, Air-Capable Ships
