FRAME 12
The numbers and letters following the word "FUEL" in the airport
listing indicate the type of fuel available at that airport. An
explanation of these letters and numbers is found in the legend under the
heading "FUEL" (page 208).
The letters "NC" preceding the type of fuel and enclosed in
parentheses indicate that there is no fuel agreement or contract between
the fuel supplier and the US military.
At these locations, military
pilots may still use their credit cards, but fuel will be more expensive
than at those locations where an agreement exists.
At Elkhart Muni, the types of fuel are 80 and 100LL. To find what
this means, turn to the fuel section of the legend. In the left-hand
column are the FLIP codes used in the entries. In the center column, the
grade of fuel is deciphered.
The entry 80 indicates 80/87 military
specification (mil spec) grade 80 gasoline which is tinted red for quick
identification. The entry 100LL is 100/130 mil spec grade 100 gasoline,
low lead, tinted blue.
