c. Flight Planning Room.
(1) Establishment and supervision. The airfield operations officer establishes and operates a
flight planning room. The flight dispatch chief directly supervises the room. The chief ensures its
general appearance, efficient administration, and operation.
(2) Location and operation. The flight planning room must be located near the weather office
and dispatch desk. The area should be clean, comfortable, and orderly. It must be equipped with all
necessary current aeronautical information and the facilities to enable aircrew members to complete self-
briefing and flight planning, as appropriate. FOCs should be available to assist when requested and to
provide briefings on local arrival and departure procedures.
(3) Furnishings and equipment.
The following furnishings and equipment are considered
essential for flight planning:
(a) Flight crew information file.
(b) Weather advisory bulletin board.
